Frannie & The Fox
Located within Hotel Emeline, at 181 Church Street, Frannie & The Fox emits warmth and intimacy. They offer an upscale dinning experience, with “a wood burning concept of shareable dishes,” creative and delicious.
During dinner service, their indoor area is low lit and cozy—perfect for date night, our table felt private and tucked into the space. They also offer open air tables within a courtyard and nearby greenhouse.
Vibes
The design in the room was playful and textured, but refined. Fresh greenery mixed into vintage tones with a modern take, Frannie & The Fox felt homey and comfortable while staying upscale.
Their menu features salads and wood fired pizzas as well as more Italian style apps and entrees. They try to source as much as they can for their menu from local providers— a freshness you can taste in what they serve.
Pizzaiolo Chopped Salad
oregano vinaigrette
This chop salad features thinly sliced pepperoni, peperoncini, onions, beans, olives, and parmesan. Tossed with an oregano vinaigrette, it was reminiscent of an Italian grinder.
Of course we ordered ours sans olives… I wish I could be an olive girl, but I’m just not there yet. Maybe I’ll grow into them and be able to enjoy a dirty martini without it being pickle based.
Beef & Pork Meatballs
whipped ricotta
Accompanied by warm focaccia bread and whipped ricotta that melted smoothly both in your mouth and into the fresh tomato sauce.
Most times we can be pretty predictable with what appetizer we will order on any given menu. This evening we were conscious of this and tried to steer away from the usual suspects—the mozzarella… a burrata… a caesar… always something with cheese thats fresh and delicious. These meatballs did not disappoint. They were tender and the sauce wasn’t heavy. They were light enough to start your meal with, without taking up all the room reserved for the main event.
Chicken Milanese
Gnocchi alla romana, chicken jus
This was our second time ordering this entree. We’ve ordered it upon both our visits to Frannie & The Fox… It’s that good.
Creative, they form their house made gnocchi into a disc under the chicken. I’ve never seen gnocchi in this shape before, but it was delicious. We cut pieces off to have perfect bites with the chicken or used it to soak up the jus. Any way you slice it, the chicken milanese is the way to go.
Tiramisu Bomba
Mascarpone mousse, chocolate shell, marsala caramel
I mean come on… How can you skip dessert when they have a chocolate coated scoop of tiramisu?
After this trip to Frannie & The Fox, we’re looking forward to our next visit. The next time, we will definitely be trying their wood fired pizza next—they looked and smelt so good coming out of their kitchen. It was a just to see them being enjoyed.
